Norwich 2012

The Register's traditional Norwich weekend (8-9 Sept) took a slightly different form this year, with the omission of the Norwich showground event. As usual Lou and John Shorten held open house on Saturday, where visitors were able to see John's workshop with restoration in progress, and Lou's amazing spare-parts sheds. The afternoon drive of previous years was replaced with a walking treasure-hunt around Lenwade, organized by John and Cynthia Harris. This was hotly contested (and enjoyed), but eventually won through sheer determination by Mark and Steven Bunce

Middleton Hall

August 19th at Middleton Hall – a very hot day for the 2012 AGM. This is the first time the register has held an official meeting here, although several members have enjoyed the Octagon Car Club organised event in past years. Parking in the glade and orchard of this historic hall creates a perfect garden party atmosphere. The hall was founded in 1285 and over the past 750 years has been extended in a variety of different architectural styles. The AGM was held in the ballroom of the Georgian west wing.

SILVERSTONE MG LIVE MEETING 2012

This years MG Live event at Silverstone was a resounding success for The Magnette Register with an increase in cars in attendance over the last two years & with a good turn out of regular attendees together with some who we do not normally see at this event. Over the two days we also welcomed a very large number of owners to the register stand who for a variety of reasons could not bring their Magnette with them including the ones that have the dilemma of having more than one MG, so a choice of steed for the event had to be made!

Z Magnette Day

The 16th edition of the Z Magnette Day was a bit ill-starred:
Firstly the date clashed again with MGLive in Silverstone, so some Magnetteers couldn't come.
Secondly, Dietrich's  (the organiser!)  ZB cylinder head wasn't finished - he arrived in an MGA
Thirdly, the Rommes family Magnette wasnt roadworthy, even after a long week work on it - the four of them were separated on the other Magnettes
Fourthly, my engine still isn't ready after months of waiting - I also took the MGA
And fifthly, Malcolm's car broke down with clutch trouble on the long way from England
