Middleton Hall

August 19th at Middleton Hall – a very hot day for the 2012 AGM. This is the first time the register has held an official meeting here, although several members have enjoyed the Octagon Car Club organised event in past years. Parking in the glade and orchard of this historic hall creates a perfect garden party atmosphere. The hall was founded in 1285 and over the past 750 years has been extended in a variety of different architectural styles. The AGM was held in the ballroom of the Georgian west wing.

At the AGM Paul Batho retired after 5 years as Chairman, being replaced by David Halliday, the first Australian to hold this office. Stephen Tickell is now Safety Fast scribe, replacing Clive Webb who also retires after 5 years. Both Paul and Clive remain on the committee.

The meeting was attended by 17 members who arrived in 12 Magnettes, which created an impressive display parked in the shade of the trees in The Glade. Entertainment for the day included guided tours around the hall, the local RSPB nature reserve, and an afternoon concert by a local prize-winning brass band.

So ended the perfect AGM at a new and delightful venue.
