At idle my steering wheel shakes and rattles and at speeds over 60 MPH, noise
becomes very intrusive.
I suspected the gearbox tie bar but slackening this off to reinstate the rubber coupling has not helped.
Has anyone had this problem ?
Could it be that the mounting rubbers are too hard ?

Geoff.

Could be the engine mounts Geoff. A PO could have replaced them with hard mounts intended for (I think) a landrover. Soft mounts specifically for the Z Magnette are available on eBay. The original mounts on most Z Magnettes tended to get oil-soaked which usually made them very soft.
