Hi Murray. I found these on eBay, they do come up from time to time, and these came with the nuts and TR centres, modified to take the MG badge.

Thanks John,
I have been looking out for TR6 wheels but they seem to be in very short supply! This would certainly give the car a better "stance" to my eyes anyway and be a cheaper option.

The TR6 wheels fitted to my ZB seem to give a very smooth ride, and the steering doesn't seem any heavier. You are quite right about the offset the inner part of the wheel is almost the same as the original, these wheels were designed to take tubeless tyres, the original Z wheels were not. We have to use a bigger valve, which is not always available at tyre fitters these days. They would look better with the correct hub caps, something I am working on.

Thanks "gruntie" I would love to go wires but as you say it is very expensive. The TR6 wheels are an option but I do not like them too much. I did have some Minilite look alikes on my last Magnette and had no problems. Ah well, we shall see what happens!

Wires are expensive and not maintenance-free: but certainly suit the car. They may even help with a disc-brake conversion.
TR6 wheels look like......TR6 wheels. Most importantly they lack the safety bead necessary these days for running tubeless tyres.
Minilite look-a-likes foul the ball joint on the track rod.
Banding of the originals is possible, but all the extra width is by necessity on the outside and they still lack that safety bead.
Back in the day there were a number of backyard specialists who would weld new rims onto original wheel centres: but it seems to be a lost art now, not even Weller do it any more. It is possible via specialists in the USA, but the freight costs are extortionate (don't ask me how I know).

That's a good photo, thanks. I know the offset is different but it shouldn't rub anywhere. I don't like the middle bit though.
