Have you asked Peter Martin? He supplied me with a very good used upper stator tube at a very reasonable price.

I have used 5/16th inch brake tube in a short straight length of about 20 inches.
Sadly the spare parts shop closed recently. Vale Robbos at Campsie.
I used a dremel to cut the tube and do the slot necessary to fit into the second piece further up.
You need to ensure that the tube does not crimp over when inserting it into the second tube as it can pinch or create a sharp edge which wears through the wiring.
I now use heat shrink tube over the four wires along its entire length as I tended to damage the cloth wound one easily when I replaced the lower bush and later the steering connection. I also split the O ring ala Malcolm Robertson's example.
Length of the lower tube is crucial, too short and the complete tube will spin at the top, too long can also create a bending of the tube within the steering column.

The stator tubes are quite fragile, and therefore rare, you can use the tubing for the windscreen wiper rack, S-V-C Ltd does this material, the problem is the tube normally comes in a coil, so the problem of straighten the tubing is quite difficult without the correct equipment, but it can be done with care, use a soft faced mallet and gentle taps, put the tube in a V block, using a small piece of soft wood work your way along the tube gently tapping it straight , you will need to rotate the tube at the same time.

looking for a Stator tube for a 57 ZB, specifically the lower half.
Or some ideas on how to recreate one that will link with the top tube and hold.
