Magnettes & Spies, Bletchley Park, 20th April 2019
This year it was decided to have the season's Easter opening event indoors as the weather at this time can be very unreliable – so of course it turned out to be wall to wall sunshine and the thermometer soared to the mid-twenties for our visit to the WWII Codebreakers museum near Milton Keynes
On the day a turnout of almost 40 people enjoyed the displays, the only complaint being that there was too much to see in a day, but as our tickets entitle us to free entry for 12 months even this problem was overcome.
We welcomed 14 Magnettes, 1 Y-type, 1 Midget and 1 MGF. Ian & Paula Williams from Leicestershire brought their Varitone out on it's first register event. This is their first major restoration and all done in a single car garage, so a credit to their dedication. The Y-type owners contacted us after seeing the event in Safety Fast so it proves that people do read this publication.
Last year, Stephen Coates was unable to attend our prize-giving at Norwich and so Bletchley proved to be an ideal place to present him with the NTG Trophy won at Harrogate last August.
