Winter Trial 2012
The Winter Trial, a legendary classic car event, is run under real winter conditions. The route is from the Netherlands through Germany, Austria and Tsjechia into Italy. A great variety of nationalities have entered for the 12th Winter Trial: Austria, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, England, Norway and Holland.
The Winter Trial is the opener of both, the European and the Dutch Historic rally championship.
With a full entry list and the great news that Frank Fennell will be back to keep Gijs van Lennep (two times Le Mans winner) from a third victory, we see more people with a chance to win this event than ever before.
Other crews who might do realy well are Bjorn Andresen (Norway) with Bennie Roetgerink and two times winner, Harm Lamberigts / Arthur Denzler, Joe Reynolds/Guy Woodcock and also Ronald Versluis/Michiel Oortman Gerlings, who have entered the trial class, just to name a few. All cars have been started by the former prime minister of the Netherlands a great car enthusiast Jan Peter Balkenende from Chateau st Gerlach near Valkenburg in the South of the Netherlands. Jou Reynolds from Ireland takes part with his ZA Magnette. But on day one there was trouble for Joe. His 1958 MG Magnette had a serious engine problem. He and his co-driver Andy Gibson had to put the car on the trailer. Within minutes they had found a new (old) engine at a MG enthusiast, they bought the engine build it in overnight. 5 mechanics, and some bottles of wine were all helping to get the MG Magnette going and by midnight the car was running again.
