M.G. Car Club of Victoria
concours February 9th,2003
Last year was a record year for Magnettes as we had no less than eleven cars entered on the day. The day has been recognised as a milestone for the Magnettes as very few people had ever seen that many Z's at one time. This year was even better.
We had 17 Magnettes particpate on the day, a new record for us and one in which can take a lot of pride. The theme of this years Concours was the Golden Anniversary of the release of the MG TF and the ZA Magnette back in 1953. John Russell's beautifully restored ZA (class winner in 2002) was featured with a TF at the head of the concours to mark the occasion and formed the backdrop to the cake cutting ceremony. The club has also produced a banner which we will use at several other events throughout the year, including the National meeting in April.

Rod Smith took out the class with his magnificent ZB that he restored over the previous 6 years. The car went on to take outright third place which is a terriffic result.
Most people realise the Magnette is more difficult to restore than the contemporary MG roadster or coupe because there is so much more to be done. But we think it's worth it and the good news is there are few more cars in the pipeline.
So now it is on to Shepparton for the National Meeting and we are doing the numbers now. Our expectation is we will get over twenty cars. We have also struck a commemorative badge which will only be available to those participating in the councours line up.(See animation at top of the page).
I also want to include a photo taken on the day of Lauchlan and Emily Halliday in the boot of the Island Green ZB. This epitomises the Magnette - an inclusive family sports saloon to allow us to enjoy MG club participation.
