What a drive....neat trick with the screwdriver! Interesting that he used a 4.55:1 rear axle & saw 6500rpm! (not sure that it was in top though....certainly third)
We should drive our cars harder methinks!

Coincidentally in the last week the Vintage Sports Car Club Library, of which I am a volunteer, had a large donation and that particular magazine was included.
Stephen Tickell is in the process of loading the report onto the web-site under "Read & Collect/Magazines"

A report in the next year's mag. shows a picture of the ZA towing the Lotus 11 which had a split fuel tank 70 miles from the end.

Has anyone got a copy of Gregor Grant's article called "Lonely Drive" in a magazine called "High Performance Cars"(?sic) dated June 1957. It dtails his drive in the 1956 Mille Miglia ...he finished 4th in the 2000cc GT class apparently. The next year he drove the (last ever) MM in a Lotus XI that he towed to Italy behind the same ZA.
If there is a copy around it would be great to have it put in the Read & Collect or Reports & Stories.
What a great read that early Magazine is...looking forward to more
