|
21379 |
KA LD 13 21379 I previously owned 1184 which is shown in your gallery. Unfortunately it proved to be beyond my resources to repair it. Last year I exchanged this car for the ZB Varitone. John Shorten had already carried out all of the welding required on the underside. So far the body has been soda blasted, all of the panels repaired and filled and the car is currently being prepared for painting.I am re-building a MGB 3 bearing engine to fit coupled to a 5 speed Ford type 9 gearbox with a conversion kit from Hi-gear (I also have this conversion in my 1959 1500cc MGA Mk1). I also intend to completely re-upholster and carpet the interior.
It is my intention to visit Coventry on the 10th August to pick a few peoples brains and get some detail photographs to help me on the rebuild. I have most of the parts needed except a few bits of chrome. The photograph was taken before the body was blasted.

KA E 24 9552 Two ZA Magnettes lay in the backyard of a Northern Suburb of Melbourne- January 2014. The elderly owner now in hospital had left these Magnettes [ only the Later ZA shown in attached images] in the Backyard for over 30 years. Rust was beyond terminal. This ZA Magnette [ Chassis No KAA 23/9552 Engine no. BP15GA/9272] [original Engine replaced] could not be saved due to its condition, lack of time [property sold], and steep cluttered access.
Paul Vermont retains the chassis plate to this lost Magnette

7580 |
KA E 13 7580 I have just acquired a 1955 ZA Magnette. It was on ebay described as an abandoned restoration project and whilst not quite a bare rolling shell it came with most parts detached - even the (MGB) engine and gearbox were just sitting on the cross members.I doubt that it has been driven for years.I must now audit the components and try and find any missing items - back to ebay !
The current (UK) registration plate is OSK 686, but this is not its original one.
The total mileage is recorded as 17546, but of course this could be 117546. However the seats are hardly worn (the best preserved part of the car) so it just might be true.

8778 |
KA J 13 8778 Bought new from Mebes and Mebes Mill Hill by Mr Turnbull. Fitted with optional HMV valve radio at a cost of £39 5s 5d (which still works) and driven back to his home in Newcastle. He kept the car for the rest of his life, I believe it has covered less than 30000 miles and had some restoration work done in the late 80s, he sadly passed away in the mid 90s when his wife covered the car up in the garage and was not used again. I bought the car in May '14 and it is undergoing recommissioning work by me which is now nearly complete. |
|
1251 |
KA A 33 1251 This car is an unrestored early version of the MG Magnette ZA. Since it has Chassis number 1251 it is exactly the 750th Magnette ever build! Of course it has the tin-top dashboard. I bought the car in Belgium and it is an original Belgium car originally delivered by “Romain Richard & Fils” in Namur on 3th of December 1954 (date of the first registration). According to the Hertitage certificate the Date of Build is 12-21 May 1954 and it has been despatched on 24 May 1954. The car has been in Belgium ever since until end of 2012 when I have imported it to the Netherlands were it got the Dutch license plate AR-64-17. Since it has been an original Belgium car it has of course Left Hand Drive and it has a kilometre speedometer. Although it is an unrestored car prior to the official Dutch registration the complete brake system and the front wheel suspension has been reconditioned. A new stainless steel exhaust has been fitted, the fuel hoses are renewed, same with the cooling hoses, the carburettors recalibrated and a master electrical switch (battery cut off) has been fitted. And at last rear seat belts has been fitted to accommodate two child seats. Since then we made some fabulous trips with our two small children on the back seat but sometimes they may play on the front seats (which the prever!). |

30267 |
KA J 13 30267 This vehicle was extensively rebuilt in 1991/2 cannabalising a ZA to do so. It has MGA front disc brakes, electronic ignition, negative earth conversion and vacuum brake booster. It is in excellent body and structural condition although engine, gearbox and rear axle are beginning to sound their age! It now belongs to Richard Jordan in West Sussex. The engine serial number is interesting: BP15N/1213; where in the Magnette scheme of things does the 'N' come in unless it is from a Manumatic equipped car? |
