The photo was taken 5 years ago, before I bought it, so it has about five years' more weat and tear on it now. As you can see, it is still looks very original (apart from the MGB engine, Nissan five speed gearbox and Wolseley diff centre, but you can't see them). The paintwork is getting close to needing some care and attention accross the back below the back window. Harry Rickards,Toowoomba,Australia

The car was an export model purchased in the UK by its original owner with the intention of exporting back to the US. I purchased the car from the estate of a wealthy doctor who used it as his summer car on Long Island, NY. I am its second owner. Apart from a re-spray it has never been restored. I guess he got tired of the original grey - I would too as it is a bit drab! The car was always pampered and has so little rust it's unbelievable. I won't ever restore it as I love the original patina, but now I too am thinking about a slight change of colour. Fashions change you know. Eric Wilson,Vancouver, BC,Canada
Now owned by Adrian Sawyer in Kemptville, Ontario, who is the fourth owner
Changed hands to Michael Middleton in 2014.

I am sending photos of the " before and after" restoration project of the MG. Actually I brought the MG back to its original condition and thereafter neglected it very unfortunately. I have however started the Re - Restoration of same and I hope to finish it and have it road worthy once again by the end of the year. You will see from the pic's it was a major job that I performed the first time round. This time however the magnitude is far less I am sure.

This ZA is shown in Palisade, Colorado where it was bought by Carl Goodwin (from Ohio) and more recently, 2020 in Houston where Ray Holtapple purchased the ZA to restore to original, saving it from the last keeper's project of a large V8 engine. According to Carl the car was originally a black-plate California car bought from Kjell Qvale (later suspected of being the infamous Zodiac Killer) by the Pillsbury baking family. It was later sold to their gardener and then to Mimi Willis, who moved from California to Palisade, CO. The car stopped running with 53,640 miles on the odometer and sat for 30 years

I acquired the car in January 2005 from a gentlemen who rescued it from certain destruction. It has undergone restoration to the body as well as a rebuilt engine and transmission. It appears to have spent its entire life in very dry climate of the southwest US so rust was at a minimum. I plan to continue his efforts to bring the car back to as original condition as possible. The car is used daily and is responding very well to continuous use.

We know nothing of this car other than the information yielded by its original RF60 log-book that a member spotted on e-bay in 2009. It was a home market Ivory/Autumn Gold Varitone supplied to its first owner in Sidmouth, Devon, UK on 25th March 1957. The last recorded change was to its fourth owner on 1st January 1972 when the car was still in Devon, though it had spent time with its second owner across the border in Somerset. It has never previously been known to the Register, which suggests that the log-book may be all that has survived. If you know anything more, please tell the Register.

I previously owned 1184 which is shown in your gallery. Unfortunately it proved to be beyond my resources to repair it. Last year I exchanged this car for the ZB Varitone. John Shorten had already carried out all of the welding required on the underside. So far the body has been soda blasted, all of the panels repaired and filled and the car is currently being prepared for painting.I am re-building a MGB 3 bearing engine to fit coupled to a 5 speed Ford type 9 gearbox with a conversion kit from Hi-gear (I also have this conversion in my 1959 1500cc MGA Mk1). I also intend to completely re-upholster  and carpet the interior.

It is my intention to visit Coventry on the 10th August to pick a few peoples brains and get some detail photographs to help me on the rebuild. I have most of the parts needed except a few bits of chrome. The photograph was taken before the body was blasted.

Third owner was Hielke dam from Heerenveen, who kept it from about 1970 till about 1979. Fourth owner was Piet Jan van Duren at Ruinen. he owned the car untill November 7th of 1984 and sold it to the 5th owner Oebele Bruinsma at Roden.
