Lou Shorten Tribute weekend 7/8th October 2023

Although the promised hot sunny weather didn't quite live up to expectations there was a good turnout for the traditional end of season Norfolk weekend, with more than 10 Magnettes at both days.

After a relaxed lunch at John Shorten's open house, the Register AGM on Saturday afternoon was predictably short and uneventful, with the committee re-elected, but chairman Paul Batho gave us due notice that 2024 will be his final year in office. Looking back at this year, he highlighted the very successful 70th Anniversary weekend, although noting that a couple of our other events had only attracted two or three cars with their owners - erratic summer weather was certainly a factor.

After the Saturday evening dinner at Wensum Valley hotel Paul announced the winners of Register trophies in 2023. Some of these had already been awarded, but our President Celia Palmer presented Alan Slack with the concours trophy that had been judged earlier in the day. Cynthia provided a slide show of Register events to accompany the meal

On Sunday a visit was arranged to the Transport Museum at Lowestoft, which features a wide selection of trams, trolleybuses and other vehicles in a carefully recreated early 20th century street. Thanks very much to John and Cynthia Harris for coming up with yet another local attraction, and for organizing the whole weekend.
