Magnettes at the Longbridge plant
On April 11th and 12th MG at Longbridge had a VIP tour of the plant as part of the new MG6 release to the public. MG are keen to promote the heritage of the famous name, consequently they asked the club to provide a display, Magnettes being especially requested. Julian White at Kimber House asked for the register to help and wanted a ZA, ZB, Varitone and a Farina. Despite the very short notice we managed 3 of the 4. Most owners were accommodated in a Birmingham hotel but 4 who live close together were loaned a press car, the new MG6. This car is a replacement for the MGZS which many roadtests claimed to be a modern day Magnette. Does it live up to it's heritage?
The answer is a resounding YES, even if it has put on a few inches round the waist over the years.
